Is Monkey a booking system?

No, it is not. Teachers shows their availability and Monkey will match their schedule with students to finalize the fixed class schedule. Throughout the course, the teacher will have regular students and stable teaching schedule. No limited number of classes required for teachers.

How long are the lessons in Monkey?

The 1-1 class lasts for 25 minutes and the 1-3 class lasts for 45 minutes.

How many students are there in one class?

In a 1-1 class, there is one student. In a 1-3 class, the maximum number of students per class is 3 students.

Do I need to create a lesson plan?

You don’t need to create a lesson plan. We will provide you with the lessons for each class. Each lesson is thoughtfully designed matching with students' level and enabling teachers to deliver the lesson interactively and engagingly.
All you need to do is to examine the lesson material before the class and have fun teaching it. You only need to use teaching aids, props to make your lessons more engaging and more personalized.

Do teachers need to communicate with parents?    

No, Monkey staff will do that for you.

How long is the application process?

It depends on your schedule and the preparation time you need. Normally it takes 4-5 days before you can start teaching.

Can I apply if I don’t have a Bachelor’s degree ?

We are very strict about applicants’ education level and require you to have at least a Bachelor’s degree & global teaching English certificate

How much tax do I have to pay?

You are responsible for paying Personal Income Tax on the total monthly remuneration in accordance with current national regulations

How long is the contract? Can teachers take breaks during the contract?

Monkey signs 6-month contracts with applicants who pass their interview and demo class. Please inform Monkey 2 weeks in advance if you intend to take an extended period of time during your contract. The contract can be renewed and we hope that it will be.

How important the interview and demo are?

The interview and demo are very important step since it provides an opportunity for both potential candidates and Monkey to decide if the individual's skills and character align with the company's needs and culture. Your performance in the demo class will persuade us whether you are a good fit for classes at Monkey.

How long is the interview and demo?

There are parts: Demo class (25 minutes) and Deep interview (15 minutes). Total time is about 45 minutes.

Here are some tips for you:
- Learn carefully the teaching material (Power Point slides) and lesson flow
- Teach from a good location with good background and lighting
- Make sure you have a good internet connection
- Be energetic, friendly and well-prepared

What are the requirements to become a teacher? What are the requirements to become a teacher?

If you have the following qualifications and requirements, you can start your teaching journey today!
- Have at least 1 year of experience in teaching English to kids aged 5-12 years old.
- Have a bachelor's degree/pedagogical degree and teaching certificates such as TESOL, TEFL, CELTA...
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills
- Be energetic, professional and patient
- Have compatible teaching devices: Laptop/ computer (Operating system: Windows 10, Office 2016/ 2019)
- Internet Requirement: At least 15 Mbps download speed and 15 Mbps upload speed (international Internet connection).
- Have a headset with a noise canceling feature and microphone
- Have a quiet, clutter-free, and well-lit teaching space in your home
- Must be available to teach at least 2 lessons/day x 4 days/ week during the following times: 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm (the evening shift) from Monday to Sunday, Vietnam Time.

Can I reapply to Monkey after an unsuccessful application?

Yes, teachers are welcomed to re-apply anytime after having benefited from previous registrations.
